When the bronze casting is fresh out of the ceramic mould it needs a lot of work done to it. All of the ceramic needs to be chipped off, the sprues that aided in the pouring of the bronze need to be cut off, and the whole surface needs to be filed and rubbed down with emery cloth (the chasing). |
