About the Artist

Born in Glasgow in 1984, Anthony was just eighteen when he received his first commission to have one of his sculptures cast in bronze, and soon afterwards he began exhibiting at a gallery in Mayfair.

Anthony's passions have always included both art and science, and after school he went to Cambridge University to read Zoology. During his holidays he was able to continue to develop his sculpting – studying the works of great sculptors, visiting galleries and museums, and extensively practising his art. After graduating in 2005 he set up a studio in Cambridge and has since been sculpting full time.

He has a growing reputation for high profile commissions – including design commissions for the Royal Mint, commemorative busts for the Linnean Society of London, the Fleming family, and Cambridge's Sedgwick Museum, and he has recently completed a life-sized statue of Charles Darwin, for Christ's College Cambridge.

Influences and Inspiration

Anthony has always been fascinated by the natural world. Studying zoology and observing animals in the wild have combined to give him deep understanding of his subjects. A keen photographer for many years, Anthony seeks to capture those fleeting moments that speak of the subject's character.

‘Nature is always beautiful. All one has to do is look and understand.’ - Auguste Rodin

Anthony also has a passion for human figure sculpture, and has been particularly inspired by his studies of the works of Rodin, Jules Dalou, and Charles Sargeant Jagger.

"I enjoy working in a range of styles - developing for each piece the style which will best suit the subject. This way I feel that I am able to add another level of creativity to my work and keep my sculptures fresh and engaging."
